REFLECTION

While I walked through town the other day
I took a look at my reflection
and saw nothing at all
The person that I used to be
is dead and buried deep
This shell of something else
is what I wear to give me form

The road I have walked is long and dark
I do not blame my soul for letting go
If you looked inside where my heart used to be
you will find the scratches on the walls
from battles I have fought with myself and I
My demons still haunt this empty casket
lurking in the chambers
feeding off my ashes
Not even death can bring me peace

But amidst all this darkness and rot
I find myself still standing
While I walked through town today
I took a look at my reflection
and saw something flickering.
